To Aru Majutsu no Index 2 - 01

Finally it's here. The second season of To Aru Majutsu no Index has come with its great characters and animations!
I really enjoyed both the first season and the spinoff Railgun (a lot) and the first episode did not waste time in bringing back the action.
It manages to accomplish all the essential "tasks":

• Introduce the main characters
• Give some background on the world
• Prepare the field for the first story arc

It does it with a very nice mix of comedy and action and the sad part at the end allows Touma to show his good nature. It is not revolutionary, but it does not need to be!

There is not much "heavy" fanservice, which is good, but I am sure they will go all out in the rest of the season.

On a side note, the rise in popularity of Misaka is really feeling here. In the first season she was an important character, but here she is placed on the same level as Index as one of the (now) three main characters. This feels somewhat strange in the sense that she features prominently in the opening and then she gets a very short scene. We will see how this goes in the next episodes though.

I am really looking forward to following this show!
