I am amazed at how dark this show is. The facade of a mahou shojo hiding such a disturbing world.
As I thought Madoka is not even considering to wish for Mami to be brought back to life. Apparently, she is so scared that she doesn't want to become a puella magi anymore.
She realizes also the sadness of fighting to save others without being remembered...
Homura shows her disillused vision though, saying puella magi are fighting for their own wishes, they are fighting for themselves.
I cannot help but think Kyubei is involved in the last witch case. The timing is so perfect.
After he understood they will not sign a contract with him he leaves. Then, immediately, a situation where Madoka is in danger (after meeting her friend Hitomi who was under witch influence) happens.
In another anime I wouldn't think so bad, but the creepy white animal that is Kyubei gives me the chills...
Also, when Sayaka was most emotionally decided to help her friend, when she definitly wanted to help him, there he is. Ready to grab on another poor girl.
Episode three was the turning point, now I am really looking at this show with different eyes. I look for a hidden meaning in every image and the tension is much higher.
At the end Sayaka formed the contract to allow her friend to use his fingers again. A wish taken in a sudden emotional moment, Kyubei got off with minimal effort...
At the end another puella magi arrives in the city. She seems very willing to fight for control of this area. Next time we might see yet another dark side of the puella magi world.
I can't wait!
